Original Watermen to Supply Encinitas Jr Lifeguards with Boardshorts for Summer 2014

Original Watermen has been a nationally recognized supplier of lifeguard and action sports apparel for many years. Now, Original Watermen will be supplying Encinitas Jr. Guard with all their uniforms for another action-packed summer.

According to Leif Madron, Brand Ambassador for Original Watermen, "Working with the City of Encinitas allows us to strengthen our ties in this cool beachy community in a positive way. We are also excited to work with other great programs such as the California State Park Junior Guard program, Los Angeles County JG’s and Imperial Beach Junior Guards as well."

"The Junior Guard program is a must for all kids in local ocean communities on both coasts. The program is designed to helps kid learn ocean safety and to feel as comfortable in the water as they are out. Water safety is the name of the game here” said Madron. “2014 is biggest year ever for the Encinitas Jr. Lifeguard program, with over 1300 kids and growing. These kids are the future watermen of tomorrow. We consider it an honor to supply Encinitas as well as another 290 Junior Guard agencies with all their uniform and/or lifeguard rescue equipment needs,” said Madron.

Original Watermen has been supplying the Encinitas Junior Guards with lifeguard board shorts, hoodies, hats, tees and other apparel for the past three summers. Original Watermen offers quality and comfort for professional lifeguards as well as most Junior Guard agencies across the globe. Original Watermen has a long-standing history of supplying lifeguard uniforms to over 90 percent of all professional lifeguard organizations around the country.

For 23 years, the Encinitas Junior Lifeguard Program has focused on the importance of educating local young people in professional lifesaving skills. The program offers ocean- and water-based activities and training in skills such as swimming and surfing, body surfing and snorkeling. This Moonlight Beach tradition trains young people on the same sand as the city's professional lifeguards, allowing them to develop professional-grade skills.

Original Watermen and the City of Encinitas Junior Lifeguard program work together to share the excitement and encourage a lifestyle based in and around the water. It is also the goal of these two groups to introduce future lifeguards to the skills needed to save lives and survive in the water. Training youths ages 9 to 17 in the intricacies of ocean safety, the program includes a swim test with an underwater breath hold, a timed 100-yard swim, a short underwater swim and the ability to tread water for three minutes in the first year.
