CARLSBAD, CA - (February 21, 2014) - Original Watermen, a Southern California-based leader in the lifeguard and action sports industries, is moving to a new, bigger location this week - allowing for more office space, a larger warehouse, a retail store on-site, and of course, a shorter commute to the beach.
"With the growth we experienced in 2013, we knew we were going to make the jump in to a larger space," said Jeff Jones, National Sales Manager. "The move will open us up to a larger product line to accommodate our customers’ needs. And obviously our 'board' meetings will be much more convenient to get to!"
Original Watermen maintains a goal of creating an office environment that boosts team morale, making additions to the new space such as employee surf and SUP boards on-site, a large TV projector, and bean bag conference room. The move to the new office also allows for more customer traffic on site - a welcomed change to the Original Watermen on-site store and brand.
"For our partnerships with large organizations - for example the Encinitas Junior Lifeguard program - we are always looking for ways to improve the overall experience of the participants," said Jones. "Having a location where local guards can come in and get fitted for uniforms improves their experience, and it gives us a chance to interact with them on a more personal level."
In 2011-2013, Original Watermen experienced a 30% year over year increase in sales. This season alone, the company will ship over 42,000 articles of lifeguard apparel, and expects major growth in all areas of the company for 2014.
More recently launching a surf-inspired clothing line, Original Watermen has appealed to many local retail stores.
“The launch of our boardshort liners has shredded the market so far,” said Jake Spurzem, Brand Ambassador. “We’re expecting the retail line to grow tremendously throughout 2014, and are excited to launch a wider line of tees, hats and boardshorts.”
Original Watermen opened its doors in 2009, and quickly gained popularity in the lifeguard industry. Supplying over 2,000 city, state, and government agencies worldwide with apparel and equipment, the company has made a name for itself, setting an industry standard with the sustainability of their lifeguard uniforms and apparel.
In the past year, Original Watermen also signed several local, Southern California surfers to their own Original Watermen Surf Team, and continues to sponsor the Carlsbad Surf Team.
